- Is the initial flaking and redness normal? Yes. This is the Retinol adjustment period and it is completely normal. Your skin is accelerating its cell turnover rate, which can cause temporary dryness and sensitivity. It typically resolves within 3 to 4 weeks. If it is severe or persists, reduce frequency.
- Can I use this with Niacinamide or Vitamin C? Yes. Niacinamide is an excellent pairing with Retinol as it helps reduce irritation and supports the barrier throughout treatment. Use Vitamin C in the morning and this serum at night. Do not mix both in a single application.
- Why is SPF so important with this serum? Retinol makes the skin significantly more vulnerable to UV damage. Skipping SPF while using Retinol will counteract the anti-ageing benefits entirely and increase the risk of new pigmentation forming. SPF every morning is non-negotiable.
